A double shell type recuperator consists of two concentrical, metallic shells having the flue gas in centre and the combustion air in the annulus between the two shells.
Generally, a double shell recuperator can operate with a flue gas inlet temperature up to 1500º C and can produce an air preheat temperature up to 800º C, depending on operating conditions such as dust concentration and flue gas composition.
A computer animation is showing the way of operation of a double shell type recuperator.
